JPS JROTC Cadet Receives Legion of Valor Award
JROTC Cadet LaToya W., Cadet Battalion Commander at Forest Hill High School, has been selected to receive the Legion of Valor Award. Cadet Latoya W. is the only cadet from Mississippi, and one of only five cadets from the entire western United States, selected to receive this prestigious award. The Legion of Valor award is presented annually to the top JROTC cadets across the nation who excel in academics, leadership, and athletics. In addition to her role as Cadet Battalion Commander, Latoya ranks near the top of her class academically and is Co-Captain of of the Forest Hill Lady Rebels Varsity Basketball Team. In the summer of 2006, Cadet Latoya W. was selected to attend the Southwest Youth Leadership Conference in Corpus Christi, Texas along with top high school students from across the southwestern United States. Even in this elite group, she was recognized as an outstanding leader.
